about career 2000

Based in the Western Cape, Career 2000 provides a medical recruitment service to a range of surgical and medical device organisations throughout South Africa, recruiting in all provinces.  The focus of the business is placing medical sales representatives with intermediate and senior sales exposure, in addition to filling management posts (mainly in Gauteng) for our surgical clientbase.

A smaller department focuses on hiring experienced Clinical Research Associates nationally (a highly specialised field).

As well as a section dealing with the placement of experienced Lab and Scientific Sales Representatives for the Bioscience clients we have on board.

The business does not receive many requests for Pharmaceutical TRAINEE sales representatives as this is not our target market or business focus.
We suggest you watch the local newspapers or go to sites online to see who is offering TRAINEE sales positions in this field, browse the medical coloumns of any publication for suitable vacancies in this category.

Kim Pennington - Founder and Managing Consultant

Since matriculating at Queens High School (Kensington), Kim spent eight years in corporate recruitment in Gauteng in the field of Abrasive Manufacturing and afterward, recruitment in Chemical Engineering. Next was "Randall Placements", a personnel agency Kim started in the Isando/Spartan suburbs, focusing her skill towards customers in and around this large industrial/office sector, recruiting staff to fill vacancies in all disciplines. A relocation to Cape Town forced a decision to open her next business. This time, Specialising in a niche market, hence the focus on placing Medical Sales Representatives today.

Over the past years, Kim has successfully managed to achieve her goal of positioning Career 2000 in the Western Cape market. A forward thinking, top agency, where all efforts have been guided by her previous experience as a personnel officer and innovator.

"Selecting Employees - Targeted Selection"

All managers want to be successfull. To do so they must first select good employees. Later they must train them, lead them, manage their work, create a rewarding work environment, and see that they are properly compensated. All these responsibilities are very important, but all FAIL if the first step is not taken.

"The first step in maintaing a productive organisation is employing top quality people..."

The old saying: "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" applies to many situations. Some employees will never be effective no matter how much training they receive.

TARGETED SELECTION is used as a guideline by Career 2000 when screening candidates for customers.

In TARGETED SELECTION Career 2000 is trained to use what they can understand best about applicants - their behaviours, actions, accomplishments and past experiences. As a result, applicants are evaluated on their own merits. Career 2000 finds out in the interview what an applicant has done in the past. Once this is known, we can accurately predict the skill, behaviour, decisions and actions the applicant will probably repeat in the future. Resulting in the applicants with the best chance of being successful being offered the position(s).

Headhunting Recruitment Service

As Headhunters, Career 2000 is a specialist in a particular niche (medical sales and medical surgical or pharmaceutical managers), specialising in a geographical region as small as a city, and other regions nationally. The role of the headhunter is to map the market with a view to identifying potential candidates who have the skill for this known position. The worth of the candidate must be established, in doing so the process is shortcut and the person is solicited directly that counts i.e. they have the skill and experience for the position at hand (usually management level). Career 2000 then delivers the results to their client who may proceed with their assessment and interview.
