Begin your Journey in Theatre-Based Medical Sales
Thank you for your interest. Before we move to the next stage, it is vital that you understand the unique demands of this role
Please read the "Day in the Life" overview below carefully.
This career path varies by portfolio. Orthopaedics is not a 9-to-5 job — it can involve 06:30 AM starts and trauma callouts. While Consumables or Elective roles offer more 'normal' hours with planned cases, every medical device role requires high-level technical expertise in the operating room.
Step 1: Medical Device Sales: The Reality Check
Read carefully before applying. This is a high-stakes clinical partnership, not a 9-to-5 desk job.
- Clinical Confidence: You cannot be shy. You must be able to walk into a theatre and speak to a surgeon clearly and to the point, even if you’ve never met them.
- The Technical Consultant: You provide real-time advice mid-procedure. You must not hold back—surgeons rely on your expert direction.
- Theater-Ready: Often starting at 06:30 AM to prep surgical kits.
- Physical Grit: Hours on your feet in a cold OR, often wearing a 5kg lead apron.
- Trauma & On-Call: Orthopedics isn't 9-to-5. Expect 2:00 AM emergency calls, weekends, and holidays. (Elective Theatre Cases/Consumable Sales roles have more "normal" hours).
- The Closer: Beyond the clinical side, you are there to grow the business. You must be comfortable asking for the business and closing the sale.
- Road Warrior: You’ll live out of your car, managing inventory and navigating traffic to ensure zero patient delays.

Video Submission Guidelines
The Technical Bit Size Limit: Maximum 50MB. Pro-Tip: If your video is too large, use a free compressor app (like CapCut, VideoCompress, or Handbrake) to shrink the file size before uploading without losing quality. The Content (Keep it Real) We don’t want a rehearsed script; we want to see the person behind the CV. Keep it under 90 seconds and focus on:- Beyond the Degree: We know you’ve got the academics, but why this path? What draws you to medical sales specifically?
- Presence: This industry relies on personality and resilience. Show us the energy and character you’ll bring to surgeons and hospital teams.
- The "Why": Connect your background or drive to the role. What makes you the right fit for a high-stakes sales environment?
